Before enrolling at the University of Alberta, you’ll need to think about expenses beyond tuition and housing costs. Living expenses

To get your Canadian study permit, you’ll need to prove that you can cover the cost of your studies and your living expenses. There are several ways you can do this, including providing bank statements from the past four months or showing proof that you’ve paid for your tuition fees and housing.

Your travel within Edmonton is covered by an annual U-Pass. The estimate above does not include flights to and from Edmonton.

Yes — the Canadian government offers international students the chance to apply for the Post-Graduation Work Permit. This allows you to live and work in Canada for up to three years after graduating!


Can I work part-time while studying in Canada?

Of course! Along with the Co-op program, which allows you to combine paid work with your studies, the University of Alberta offers a range of part-time employment opportunities on campus. You can work up to 20 hours a week in a part-time job on or off campus.
