Programs at the University of Alberta
Through the U of A Year One Foundation Program, you can complete the first year of your bachelor’s degree program. You’ll be a U of A student from day one, benefitting from smaller class sizes and academic support designed for international students.
After completing the program, you’ll head straight into the second year of one of 60+ bachelor’s degrees. This means you don’t lose any time on your way to graduation!

Your routes to a degree at the University of Alberta:
OPTION 1
Year One Foundation Program
Apply through Kaplan for the U of A Year One Foundation Program and progress to the second year of a four-year bachelor’s degree program!
Best option for students who:
- have course deficiencies and don’t yet meet the academic or English entry requirements for their U of A bachelor’s degree program
OPTION 2
English for Academic Purposes program
Join the U of A’s English Academic Purposes program to qualify for the Year One Foundation Program. Depending on your current English language level, you’ll be in the EAP program for four to six months.
